Academic Course Web Sites

Many faculty use web sites to complement their in-class teaching. UMass Amherst supplies a variety of services through OIT that can make building a course Web site easy: the SPARK learning management system (powered by the Blackboard/WebCT Vista Learning Management System), course blogs, and standard Web server course accounts.

Instructional Media Lab

The instructional Media Lab provides consultants who will help you utilize web technologies in your teaching, including help with SPARk blogs, course sites, scanning pictures/slides, using image files, creating PDF files and digitizing of video and audio content.

Computer Classrooms

Information on the instructional technology available in classrooms across campus can be found online. In addition, there are 11 computer classrooms. You can reserve one of these classrooms for a single session or a semester. Classrooms get filled far in advance, so make your reservations early.

Faculty Workshops

Workshops are available in January, June and at other times of the year on specific topics. Workshop topics include SPARK, Web site creation, digital images, PDF production, PowerPoint, digital audio, and digital video.
