UMass Amherst Libraries

Online access to nearly every journal and magazine is available through the library. Rather than assembling your own collection of digitized articles, it is worthwhile to check with a subject specialist and find out what is already available online.
Citation Management Software - Refworks
The library provides faculty and students with a site license to use the online Refworks citation management software. This software allows quick collection and sorting of references that can be exported in a variety of styles.
Plagiarism Detection Software - Turnitin
The Library has also licensed TurnItIn, software that mediates the collection of assignments and checks them against a database of sources. Faculty receive a report highlighting any “insufficiently cited” sections of the document.
Repository of Faculty Scholarship - Scholarworks
ScholarWorks is a permanent digital repository of scholarship by faculty on this campus. Faculty can submit their own materials to the library to have them added to a growing collection of locally-produced scholarship.
Click to find electronic reserve submission forms, including Faculty Guidelines, EReserve Instruction sheets, Book and Journal Processing Forms, a Sample Course Site, and more.
The UMass Amherst Media Collection contains thousands of titles in a variety of formats, including videos, DVDs, CDs, audiocassettes, LPs, and CD-ROMs.
The Image Collection Library acquires images in all subjects for use in the classroom environment. Images in any discipline may be considered appropriate within financial constraints as long as there is a demonstrated need for them as an aid for teaching or research.
